In two separate incidents, two men have been arrested and booked under POCSO Act for raping minor girls in Perur, Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Karnan alias Lingesan (33) hailing from Thennampalayam, near Sulur is a carpenter who is married with children. He got acquainted with a 13-year old girl from the same area. Lingesan reportedly tried to woo the girl and sexually exploited her. The girl became five months pregnant, and the parents lodged a complaint with the All Women's Police Station, Perur. Inspector Kowsalya investigated the case, booked Lingesan under the POCSO Act, arrested and imprisoned him.
Similarly, Madhu (23) from Gobi in Erode district works as a construction worker in the Madukkarai-Marapplam area. He reportedly abducted a 16-year old girl from the area, promising to marry her. The girl's parents lodged a complaint with the police. Perur Inspector Parveenbanu filed a case under the POCSO Act and arrested Madhu. The girl has been rescued and handed back to her parents.
