On behalf of the Department of Agriculture, World Soil Day was celebrated yesterday in the selected village of Thennamanallur, under the Kalaignar's Village Integrated Agricultural Development Program.

On behalf of the Department of Agriculture, World Soil Day was celebrated yesterday in the selected village of Thennamanallur, under the Kalaignar's Village Integrated Agricultural Development Program.
Deputy Director of Agriculture (Central Program) Krishnaveni was the special guest at the event. During the event, farmers were briefed on government schemes, bio-fertilizers, cereals and micronutrient application to crops. Sheila Poosalakshmi, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Thondamuthur, said, "Based on the soil samples, soil cover, fertilizers should be applied to the crops to prevent soil salinization and increase the productivity of the farmers."
Many agriculture officials and farmers participated.
