Attempt to smuggle ammunition on Coimbatore flight. Police inquires businessman from Delhi.
Coimbatore: Varun Arora (33) is a businessman from Delhi. He arrived at Coimbatore airport at around 2.50 pm on a flight. There he was interrogated by the Central Industrial Security Force. They then checked the bag he was carrying.
There was an explosive-like substance in the parcel in his bag at the time. Varun Arora was immediately handed over to the Peelamedu police station. The police then investigated him. At that time, Varun Arora said that he had bought 2-kg of gold soil and iridium contaminated material from someone. He then informed that he came to Kochi to inspect it. He later said he tried to leave Coimbatore for Delhi and did not carry anything. The Delhi businessman had in his possession, 10-grams of ammunition. According to police reports, a visa ban will be implemented due to the presence of metals.
