Coimbatore: Fishing in the Bellathi pond near Karamadai started in advance. Karamadai Bellathi Pond near Mettupalayam covers an area of 100-acres. This pool is owned by the Public Works Department. The pond was auctioned by the Mettupalayam Fishermen's Co-operative Society and the fish including Katla, Rogu, Billukkanda, and Mirugal were raised. Then 8-months later they caught the fish and sold it.
This year, the association's administrator Mohanraj arranged Rs. 3-lakh worth of fish to be released in the pond. Currently, it is raining continuously in the catchment areas of the lake.
