Coimbatore: 'The pandemic taught me how to deal with uncertainties that the food industry can leave you experience. And after all the trial and error, I have taken the plunge and I have honed a new skill.' Ranjana said.
The seven products are sold on the website www.cafetotaram.com (http://www.cafetotaram.com/) and can be purchased at Cafe Totaram located on Race Course Road.
There are brookies and Ranjana calls them a huge crowd pleaser.“They pair beautifully with coffee, tea or a plain glass of milk. They can also be enjoyed plain. Enjoy out cookies while you enjoy watching your favourite movie or while you read through your most loved book. They double up as a gifting option as well.” The Jeera Cookies are a tad different. They are a perfect blend of sweet and salt and are flavoured with the warm tones of jeera. Crisp and baked to perfection, Snackwala’s Jeera Cookies taste good with all kinds of tea and even a soup. Filled with a melange of flavours is the Dry Fruit Chivda. Crispy chivda, curry leaves, rich dry fruit, toasted coconut, and a plethora of spices makes the Dry Fruit Chivda a sheer joy for all seasons. Ranjana suggests that it can be served with your favourite beverage, “mix it with curd, or simply add it to your food, it’s great in all ways.” she tells us.
Mathri lovers can select from a range of three options; Laccha Mathri, Milk Mathri and the Piri-Piri Mathri. Soothing for the soul and taste buds, one of the best comfort foods especially in the winter season, a many layered snack. That is the Laccha Mathri for you. The Milk Mathri is recommended for those with a sweet tooth. Mild on taste, rich on fragrance, the Milk Mathri is a flaky snack, crisp, dense and sweet at the same time. Can be served and consumed as a dessert and it works as an appetiser.
An offering of Cafe Totaram, the Piri-Piri Mathri is a must have for spice lovers and for foodies who want a burst of different flavours. “Here, a combination of piri-piri powder and mixed herbs goes into making this savoury truly global and contemporary.” Ranjana explains. The Piri-Piri Mathri goes well with tea and can be enhanced with a dip or toppings too.
The Toshe can be easily mistaken for a sweet roll. “The favourite Sindhi desert is similar to a sweet roll. It brings to mind the taste of the South-Indian Badushah, and it is often compared with another iconic sweet, the gulab jamun. Serve it as a dessert, or gift it to friends and enjoy the unique texture of this sweet.” Ranjana says.
All products are sold in food-friendly tins and in pouches that can be slipped into your handbag and can be consumed on-the-go.
Popular for her doodling work, an art she admits she mastered during the lockdown, Ranjana is hoping to use her doodling work on the stickers of her products. You can purchase the range of Snackwala products at her Cafe Totaram or online. Ranjana can also bundle up the products of your choice and customise a gift hampers for you.
