The Coimbatore Corporation has planned to conduct a training programme for Corporation Engineers through a German-based company for laying safer roads.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation is in talks to host a training programme for the engineers for the construction of safe roads in the city through a German system.
It is proposed to train Corporation Engineers through German organizations on designing safe roads in areas under Coimbatore Corporation.
Roads are to be laid in Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar, and Cochin by the German Development Agency, a German-based company through the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. A similar programme was held last year, same time, which went on for a week.Plans to impart one-week training this year is in talks.
According to a corporation official, "This training will be imparted through the German system on the construction of safe roads, designing roads with an emphasis on safety of pedestrians, vendors and elderly people. The exercise will explain the importance of providing safety not only to vehicular traffic but also to pedestrians walking and the construction of pavements and street lights."
