In this case, when the pits for the Smart City project were dug in the area of ESI Hospital, Kongu Main Road, Tirupur, the drinking water pipe burst and water gushed to a height of 10 feet, causing the road to overflow like a river.
Following the failure of the authorities to take action as the water was wasted for more than an hour, the public in the area complained to the corporation authorities. The corporation employees came to the spot and repaired the broken pipe. In Tirupur drinking water is distributed only once in 15 days. The wastage of water has caused concern among the public.
