Coimbatore: Three persons have been arrested for selling tobacco illegally in shops. About 185-kgs of tobacco was seized in the raid.
The sale of prohibited products such as tobacco is a recurring story in Coimbatore. Police continue to conduct searches from time to time and based on tip-offs received.
Acting on a tip-off received, the district police raided retail shops in Saibaba Colony, KK Pudhur Road, Subbaiyya Colony, in which 7 bags of banned tobacco weighing 185-kgs were seized. Prabhu, (42), Saravanan, (39), Prakash, (39), of KK Pudhur, were arrested.
Saravanakumar, who is absconding, is on the hunt.
