Police arrested CITU Indian Construction Workers' Federation workers who staged a road blockade in front of the Tirupur railway station demanding free housing for a homeless construction workers and for putting across various other demands.
Tirupur: The CITU Construction Workers’ Union protested demanding that the central government should control the price of construction materials through measures such as GST tax cuts, not link monetary benefits with labour contributions, and enforce the Interstate Migrant Labour Act 1979 Building Construction Labour Act 1996 nationwide.
