The Tourism Minister of Tamil Nadu inspected the lakes here in the city renovated under the smart city project and later addressed the press.
Coimbatore: TN Tourism Minister stated that a hot air balloon festival will soon to be hosted in Pollachi.
Dr. Mathiventhan, the Minister of Tourism of Tamil Nadu inspected the lakes renovated in Coimbatore under the Smart City project.
He inquired in detail about the works in progress at the Periyakulam and Valankulam from the District Collector and Commissioner of Corporation.
Later, talking to the press the Minister added that the government has announced boating facilities for the lakes and the plans will soon be implemented after a study. Dr.Mathiventhan stated that the tourism sector shall be further developed once the pandemic subsides. While 75% of the works are complete, 25% of the Smart City project work is still pending due to the pandemic.
“Special funds are allotted for the pleas made in the tourism sector and the Chief Minister will decide upon closure of tourist spots on contemplation due to the concerns of Omicron.” said the Minister.
Works are in progress to renovate hotels in the state and plans are in place to strengthen tourism in the city and the state. Pandemic has lulled the tourism sector in the past two years. However, hotels have been equipped with facilities to get food through the apps like Swiggy, Zomato. Also, online bookings have enhanced the department revenue with 22-lakhs. Hot Air Balloon Festival will soon to be held in Pollachi, just like that of Mexico, the minister added.
