Tirupur: The Uppar reservoir has reached its full capacity after 20 years, however, opening water through sluice gates has been an issue due to damage in the shutter.
The Uppar Dam located in Kundadam Panchayat near Dharapuram, Tirupur has reached full capacity after 20 years. The water level reached the maximum capacity of 24-feet five days back and the water was discharged through the shutter main shutter into the Uppar River. Water is discharged from the left and right side shutter for irrigation purposes.
Due to a fault in the left shutter, discharge of water to channel irrigation has been disrupted and the Public Works Department (PWD) officials are in the process of repairing works. PWD officials assured release of water for agricultural and irrigation purposes once the repairs are done.
