Coimbatore: As many as 17 international passengers have been identified in Coimbatore with a travel history from Omicron-affected ‘high-risk’ nations. Reportedly all the 17 reached the city before the spread of the variant.
The Health Department stated that 17 passengers who arrived at Coimbatore from Omicron-affected nations have been identified recently and isolated as a precaution even though all 17 tested negative. The Omicron variant was detected in South Africa on the 24th and has since then been a factor of concern globally as it is fast spreading. These above 17 came to the city before virus detection, however, are isolated and closely monitored.

Passengers are allowed to go only after checking. Persons with symptoms are identified and are closely monitored. Steps have also been taken to isolate them immediately, stated the health department
