Roads to be laid at an estimate cost of 34.93-crores in Coimbatore, 51.35-kms in calculation

The Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore inspected areas in South zone in Coimbatore and has announced that roads are to be constructed for an estimate cost of 34-crores for 51.35-kms.


Coimbatore: The Commissioner and Special Officer of the Corporation of Coimbatore, visited and inspected the South Zone areas of Coimbatore Corporation. He stated that a sum of Rs.34.93-crore has been allocated for construction of 51.35-km road in Coimbatore Corporation area.



The Commissioner and Special Officer of the Corporation, Raja Gopal Sunkara, visited and inspected the South Zones in Coimbatore on Friday.

The Corporation Park and children’s playground in Aishwarya Nagar in South Zone Ward 90 was inspected. He subsequently handed over the keys of the park to representatives of the Residential Welfare Society in the area for maintenance.



Following which rainwater logged in Vasantham Garden, Brindavan Circle and Ganga Nagar in Ward 87, using motors and water suction vehicles was removed. The Commissioner directed the officials to complete the work expeditiously.

The Commissioner of Municipal Corporation said, “Tamil Nadu Sustainable Urban Development Project has provided financial resources under the World Bank scheme for renovation of roads.”

“An estimated cost of Rs.34.93-crore suitable for renovation of roads in the city’s Corporation areas for the year 2020-2021 is sanctioned. The roads opened for laying of civil pipelines and cables, and roads damaged due to rain has been allotted. A Detailed Project Report for replacement works has been prepared and tenders have been sought for 29.12.2021. About 8 works at a cost of 34.93-crore for a distance of 51.35-km will be done.” The construction will commence once tenders are sought and quality roads will be provided for public use.



As per the orders of the Corporation Commissioner, door to door disinfection using Abate and the unwanted objects were removed at Thukkinarr Road in Ward 39, North Zone.

Assistant Commissioner Southern Region Annadurai, Assistant Executive Engineer Karuppuswamy, Regional Health Officer Ramu, Assistant Engineers Saravanakumar, Vimalraj, Savita and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
