Suparswanath Jain temple at Rangai Gowder Street celebrates 50 years and 25th anniversary and flag hoisting ceremony held with religious fervour.
Coimbatore: December 2nd is a historical dayfor the peace loving caring Jain community of Coimbatore.
Members of the community were rejoicing the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Rajasthan Jain Shwetambar Murtipujak Sangh the parental and the biggest Jain association.
Also, the day coincided with the 25th anniversary of Maha Kumbhabhisekham and flag hoisting of the renovated Suparswanath Jain temple at Rangai Gowder Street.
Kishore Jain, a Jain historian and scholar shared that 25 years ago in Dec 1996 the Jain temple Maha Kumbhabhisekham was performed by the late his holiness Sree Adhyatma Yogi Acharya See Kalapurna Surishwarji Marasaheb. The temple is built of pure marble following the Jain or Samanar architecture where no concrete is used, no iron used only natural stone foundation and the whole temple was constructed to a height of 65-feet and Gopuram Kumbhkalash flag post made 14-feet tall. The total height is 85-feet and this is the tallest Jain temple in the Kongu region, all the 24 Jain Tirthankaras idols were consecrated. The main Gambhara in the ground floor has Lord Suparswanath the 7th tirthankara and the right side of the Gambhara or Garbhagriha is Lord Mahaveer the 24th Jain Tirthankara, Lord Adinath or Lord Rishabhdeva the first Tirthankara is on the left side.
On the first floor in the main Garbhagriha is Lord Muniswarath and by left is Chintamani Parshwanath the 23rd Tirthankara. Today the holy flag was taken from Guru Rajendra Suri Jain temple following COVID pandemic protocols in a holy procession. After receiving the blessings of Jain monks, Acharya Kirti Prabhu Suriswarji, Muni Tapprabh, Muni Sayamprabh, Munisahityaprabh the flag was hoisted by Sandip Sidharth Bafna and the family of Hirachand Pukhraj one of the earliest known Jain families of Coimbatore who settled here more than 100 years ago.
Vijayraj Jain Suparswanath temple president welcomed all and the function was attended by past president Jawantraj Bagrecha, Babulal Mehta, Vice President Naresh Rathod, Dilip Chajed Madan Mohan, Kamlesh Rathod, Sidharth Bafna Yaspal Kankaria, Vijaychand Vaid, Sandip Bafna, Kishore Jain, Rakesh Bafna, Youth Wing Mandal President Sripal Ostwal and others. Jain Kirtans and Bhajans were sung by the monks and devotees for well-being of all including animals, birds, insects and plants. Sattar Bhedi puja was performed by the devotees. In Jain temples the devotees perform all rituals including daily Abhishekam and pooja. Many devotees fasted for the well-being of all. The whole temple was decorated with flowers.
The Jain community had done tremendous social service during COVID pandemic and had earned the goodwill and appreciation of the public and district and state administration informed Rahul Mehta of Suparswanath Jain Seva Mandal.
