Monsoon rains in Coimbatore intensifies dengue prevention measures

Based on the orders of the Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore, the health care workers have intensified the dengue prevention measures and door to door inspections due to increased monsoon rains.


Coimbatore: Intense monsoon rains in the city has subsequently, escalated dengue prevention measure, the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner has stated.

Raja Gopal Sunkara, Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer has directed the health care department to intensify dengue prevention measures in the city due to the increased Northeast monsoon rains.

Residents are advised to get rid of unwanted containers to avoid water stagnating. Pots, flower pots, plastic containers, any kind of broken vessels that might collect water has to be removed and water containers has to be closed air-tight. Private companies are directed to make sure water does not stagnate, allowing the breed of larvae and schools and colleges are directed to certify of no larvae presence.

Fines shall be imposed appropriately if mosquito larvae are found during the health inspectors’ study. A fine of Rs.1,20,000/- has been imposed in the last week.

Flu camps, joint operations, and spraying of disinfectants are in progress at the Coimbatore corporation areas and are uploaded on corporation social media. Therefore, the Commissioner and Special Officer of the Corporation, Raja Gopal Sunkara has informed the public to cooperate appropriately.
