The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai has forecast heavy rains in districts including Coimbatore, for the next few days due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal.
Coimbatore: Depression in the Central and Southwest regions in the Bay of Bengal is likely to cause heavy rains in Tamil Nadu districts including Coimbatore, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai.
The forecast stated that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Southern districts and adjoining the Western Ghats from December 6 - 7.
Madurai, Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli districts will receive heavy rain with thunder showers on December 4 and 5. Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Salem, Dharmapuri, Erode, Theni, Madurai, Sivagangai and Virudhunagar districts are likely to receive heavy rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places.
Heavy rains have been forecast for December 6 at one or two places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Namakkal, Tirupur, Theni and Dindigul. As far as Chennai is concerned, the sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours, according to the Met Department.
