Farmers’ association demand power supply for residents in government-owned wastelands in Coimbatore

The Farmers’ association has demanded power supply for the public residing at the government lands for more than 30 years.


Coimbatore: Farmers’ Association have requested that the residents who are residing at the government-owned lands for more than 30 years be provided with electricity.

The farmers' union has demanded that the government provides electricity connections to the residents who are residing in wastelands for more than 30 years.

Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association District President S Palaniswami stated 'Tax receipts have to be issued for the houses and patta for the residents in the government squatter lands in the gram panchayat, town panchayat, corporation areas in various parts of Tamil Nadu and Coimbatore district for over 30 years. Also, the residents have to be provided with power supply through the revenue department and provide uninterrupted proof of electricity connection to the residents.'

He added that this will enable a large part of the people to get electricity connections for their livelihood. The association members lamented that certain social activists are interrupting the welfares done for the public by government officials and appropriate action should be taken against persons who give false information.
