The CCMC Commissioner inspected East Zone in Coimbatore after complaints of faulty street lamps in the area.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer Raja Gopal Sunkara inspected the East Zone in Coimbatore on Wednesday.
Amidst complaints of faulty street lamps which were not functional for the past 18 days, he issued orders to repair five street lamps in Ganapathy Nagar area under Ward 59 of East Zone and further imposed a fine of ₹ 2250 on the contractors. Locals had been airing their rising concerns of theft or any other crime that could occur due to lack of street lighting.
The KCB Engineers Private Limited who had the contract for street lighting in the ward were petitioned to address the issue. Further, the CCMC Commissioner also said that the contractors had imposed a fine amount of ₹ 2250 with ₹ 25 per day for 18 days as stated in the tender.
