The BJP Women’s Wing President, Vanathi Srinivasan has alleged the state government of Tamil Nadu is not paying heed to the needs and wants of Coimbatore that are not properly addressed. She assured that the BJP will fight for women’s safety.
Coimbatore: Vanathi Srinivasan, State President, Women Wing of the BJP and MLA of Coimbatore South met the press here on Wednesday.
During the meet, she alleged that the Tamil Nadu government is not addressing the needs and wants of Coimbatore suitably.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Women Wing President of the State and Coimbatore South MLA, Vanathi Srinivasan addressed the reporters on Wednesday at a private hotel here.

For every 1,000 males, there are 1,020 females present in the country, according to the NFHS-5 survey, by the health ministry calculated between 2019 and 2021. She added that there were only 991 females during the last survey which has now hiked to 1,020. The MLA termed this as a healthy increase and stated that the view on gender (women) has changed in society.
She stated that the understanding of gender has changed particularly through PM Modi’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, which he launched in Haryana. The significance women are provided in crucial decisions in politics has given a different understanding on women, she added.
Public health facilities have increased from 48.5 to 70%. Women using LPG has increased from 43% to 58.6%. Sanitary napkin usage has increased from 57.6% to 77.6%. The percentage of women having own bank accounts has also increased to 53% - 78.6%. Health care plans have risen from 28.2% to 41%, which is a welcoming change.
Vanathi Srinivasan further stated that the road restoration works are in progress in the south constituency and that a request was put forth to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu when on his recent visit to Coimbatore about the expansion of Coimbatore airport and transfer of Coimbatore prison. Agreements have been signed in regard to this, stated the MLA.
“The corporation administration states contracts have been signed for the construction of new roads. This government is not acting on the needs and problems of Coimbatore.”
Addressing the sexual abuse women and children are being subjected to, she said, “We are paying extra attention to the sexual assault crimes and there is a legal possibility of appealing against the sexual investigation decision report against women, when the investigation reports are released.”
She added that a discussion will be held with the BJP head and coalition partners regarding the reservation in the elections.
