The cloth bag of 20 free items is to be distributed to ration cardholders on the occasion of Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu. However, a picture of the bag with greetings of Tamil New Year and Pongal has been released.
A G.O. has been released by the Government of Tamil Nadu allocating ₹ 1088 crores for the supply of 20 items for Pongal. ₹ 71 crore has been allocated for the supply of sugarcane separately, along with this package. The items are to be distributed through ration shops on the occasion of Pongal.
Raw rice, jaggery, cashew nuts, grapes, cardamom, dhals, ghee, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, pepper, groundnut, urad dal, semolina, wheat flour and salt will be supplied.
