Coimbatore: At the foothills of Vadavalli Marudhamalai, a project has been evaluated to build a tonsure centre.
Thousands of devotees visit the Marudhamalai Subramaniaswamy Temple daily and on the steps of the temple, there is a place devoted to tonsure. Due to the narrowness of the place, devotees struggle to fit in especially on special days. Thus at the foothills of Marudhamalai, 93 cents land belonging to the temple was surveyed to build a tonsuring centre.
In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner of Charities (P) Vimala stated, "At the foothills of Marudhamalai, the project has been assessed at Rs.72 lakhs and sent for approval to build a tonsuring centre, and 10 bathrooms and toilets to be built on the temple-owned land. Once approved, the tender will be released."
