On the occasion of World AIDS Day, an AIDS Awareness Rally was held today at the Coimbatore District Collectorate under the leadership of District Collector Sameeran. More than 500 people participated in the awareness rally.
Coimbatore: World AIDS Day is observed around the world every year on December 1st. As part of this, World AIDS Day was observed today in Coimbatore to show support for the people living with AIDS and those who have lost their lives due to AIDS.
The district administration and the district health department at the Coimbatore district collector's office held an awareness rally today to mark AIDS awareness day. The rally was a one and a half kilometer march from the District Collector's Office to the District Sub Health Center located on Racecourse Road. Coimbatore District Collector GS Sameeran flagged off the awareness rally.
In addition, the rally was attended by more than 500 people from the health department, volunteers and college students. Earlier the District Collector’s Office had earlier signed up and launched the AIDS Awareness Day. Also present at the event were District Health Officer Aruna Coimbatore Government Hospital Chief Nirmala.
