Coimbatore: The police squad in Coimbatore thwarted an ATM robbery attempt on Monday night, within 15 minutes of receiving a tip-off which gained the attention of the District Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarthinam.
In a nip and tuck attempt, the Chettipalayam police team nabbed two men hailing from Haryana who attempted to rob an ATM using a fake key near Chettipalayam junction at around 9 pm, on Monday night.
Sub-Inspector Muthukumar, Special Sub- Inspector Senthil Kumar and police personnel of Chettipalayam police station prevented a robbery in the area within 15 minutes of information received from the bank’s control room which alerted the police. The team reached the spot within just 15 minutes, stopping the duo from looting the ATM.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Coimbatore Range, Dr. M S Muthusamy and the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarathinam felicitated the Chettipalayam police for their competence in nabbing the miscreants immediately.
