Laboratory ready for testing Omicron virus at Coimbatore Government Hospital: Dean Dr. Nirmala

Dean of GH said for this, 5,000 taqpath kits have been prepared at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. In the experiment, samples were taken to divide the coronavirus into 2 types. The taqpath kit test is a test that divides genes into three types to find out if the 3rd type of gene contains a new omicron or some other new virus.


Coimbatore: Dean Dr. Nirmala said 5,000 kits were on standby at the Coimbatore Government Hospital to detect a new type of Omicron virus that is threatening the world.

The new type of virus called Omicron is threatening the world and it is prevalent in many countries, including South Africa. A laboratory facility has been set up in 12 hospitals across Tamil Nadu to detect the virus, said Health Minister M. Subramanian.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to detect a new type of virus called Omicron in the Coronavirus Testing Laboratory of the Microbiology Laboratory at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. 5,000 kits are ready according to Nirmala, Dean, Government Hospital, Coimbatore. There is also a way to test and announce results with a kit called Taqpath.

She said for this, 5,000 taqpath kits have been prepared at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. In the experiment, samples were taken to divide the coronavirus into 2 types. It will be sent to the Public Health Laboratory in Chennai to find out what kind of virus it is.
