With bridge construction work on at four places in Coimbatore, locals were further inconvenienced due to heavy traffic even amidst moderate rains.
Coimbatore: In the past few days, Coimbatore skies have been overcast without much rain during the day but occasional moderate to heavy rains in the evenings.
Heavy rains lashed various parts of Coimbatore from Monday night till Tuesday morning. Students who set out for school, motorists and pedestrians suffered the most due to moderate rains in various parts of the city around 8.30 am, particularly in Gandhipuram, Railway Station, Town Hall, Selvapuram, Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore, Madukkarai, Sundarapuram, Ramanathapuram, Sungam, Race Course, Saibaba Colony, Edayarpalayam, Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur received moderate rainfall.
Due to the rains, all the main roads in Coimbatore were with traffic.

Since bridges are being constructed at four places in Coimbatore, namely Ukkadam, Trichy Road, Kavundampalayam and Avinashi Road, motorists were further inconvenienced and had to travel slowly on the damaged roads.

In particular, due to the ongoing bridge work near Kavundampalayam, roads were slushy and hence motorists had to manoeuvre the potholes on the roads.
