Locals in the area have informed the Forest Department to catch the leopard immediately before it endangers livestock and humans.
Coimbatore: Madukkarai, Sugunapuram and Milekkal are areas in the Madukkarai Forest Reserve in Coimbatore district. Elephants and other wildlife often stray into these areas which are comprise a large number of settlements. Residents of the area have spotted leopards roaming in the evenings in the Sugunapuram residential area near Madukkarai for the past two days and have informed the Madukkarai Forest Department.
The Madukkarai Forest Department arrived at the spot and confirmed the movement of a leopard. Following this, residents of Sugunapuram and Kolamavu hills have been advised not to leave their homes unnecessarily during nights and early mornings. The Forest Department have advised people against steppig out alone to even graze their cattle.
