The recent increase in pollution rate and global warming due to the increased vehicle usage has lead the path towards e-vehicles. The Central and State Governments are planning to increase the sales of electric vehicles manifold in the coming years to address the issue.
The industrialists in Coimbatore rejoiced the Tamil Nadu government’s offer to assist in the manufacture of motors for the e-vehicles in Coimbatore, have demanded that schemes be set up to ensure that micro and small enterprises also contribute more to motor production. Raja said 'The industrial city of Coimbatore has excelled in various fields including textiles, automobile components, wet grinder, motor pump set, casting, etc. Electric vehicles will be the most sold in the market in the coming years. It is welcoming that the Government of Tamil Nadu has come forward to provide necessary assistance for setting up a cluster in Coimbatore.'
As far as electric vehicles are concerned, all types of vehicles can be manufactured from bicycles to heavy vehicles including cars, buses, and lorries. Therefore, the emphasis should not only be placed on medium and large enterprises.
