The variant has reportedly spread from South Africa to neighbouring countries, soon after which the Health Ministry in India directed all states to ensure strict vigil at all international airports.
International travellers who arrive in India, including Coimbatore Interational Airport are being tested for the Covid-19 variant, Omicron and are being directed to quarantine themselves and stay in the city until test results are established.
