Tirupur North police are investigating the theft of 15 sovereign of jewellery worth Rs.3 lakh from a waste godown owner's house near Tirupur College Road.
Tirupur: Rajendran (48), a resident of Sadi Basha Nagar, Tirupur College Road owns a knitwear waste godown in the same area.
He lives with his wife Chellam and son Venkatesh who works as a driver. Rajendran not only trades in waste cotton but also trades in mustard and cumin, on two-wheelers, on Sundays.
Venkatesh went to work as usual on Sunday, while Rajendran and his wife locked the house and went about selling their groceries as usual.
When Rajendran returned home at night, he was shocked to find that the door of his house had been broken into.
Following this, Rajendran informed the Tirupur North police. Police arrived at the scene and conducted a search with sniffer dogs. A case of robbery has been registered and an investigation is underway.
