A secret tip-off to District SP Selvanagarathinam led to the arrest of a 24-year-old in the Anaimalai region, who attempted to smuggle ration rice.
Pollachi: A 24-year-old man was arrested in Anaimalai on Friday for attempting to smuggle Ration rice.
The District Superintendent of Police, Selvanagarathinam received a secret tip-off today stating ration rice was being smuggled in the Anaimalai area. Anamalai Inspector of Police Harikrishnan rushed to the spot. Nandhakumar, (24), son of Muruganantham of Anaimalai attempted to smuggle ration rice illegally in a two-wheeler.
The cops seized 900 kg of ration rice and handed it over to civil supplies department officials.
The district police are on a constant vigil to nab persons involved in illegal activities as per the District SP’s orders. The SP has also directed the public to inform the police department about such activities through Coimbatore District Police Control Room No. 9498181212 and WhatsApp Number 7708100100.
