The trade union members staged a protest in Coimbatore seeking that the Centre has to solve the demands of farmers in Coimbatore and placed multiple other demands.
Coimbatore: The members of CITU staged an agitation here in the city on Friday seeking that the Union government answers the pleas of farmers in Coimbatore.
A demonstration was held in Coimbatore today on behalf of all the trade unions thanking the farmers for their victory against the three Agri laws reversal, a year-long series of agitations that happened in the nations’ headquarters. They pressed that the Union Government must immediately meet the demands made by the Farmers’ Federation.
CITU Coimbatore District President C Padmanabhan led the demonstration at Gandhipuram in Coimbatore.
The agitators demanded that the union government should withdraw the electricity bill, and congratulated the participants and farmers for their victory.
They further demanded that the centre has to hold talks and meet the demands of the farmers. The agitators raised slogans condemning the shrinking of labour laws in favour of corporates and the union government privatizing the public sector in the name of monetization.
A large number of people participated in the protest.
