As per the announcements made during the demand for rural development in the Assembly, the honorarium for the panchayat heads in the state is increased to ₹ 2000.
Coimbatore: The honorarium for the Panchayat presidents is increased in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Amudha, Principal Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Tamil Nadu, in her GO stated that the Honorarium for the Panchayat Presidents has been increased to ₹ 2000.
The GO read, “As per the announcement made about the demand for grants for rural development and panchayat departments in the assembly, the monthly remuneration paid to the Panchayat Presidents will be increased from ₹ 1000 to ₹ 2000, to encourage the Panchayat heads and their contribution in the rural development.”
The Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj had written to the government in this regard. Accordingly, the Government has ordered a hike in honorarium for the 12,525 Village Panchayat Presidents in Tamil Nadu from ₹ 1,000 to ₹ 2,000.
