Coimbatore: Against the spike in cost of vegetables, Centre of Indian Trade Unions, (CITU) members approached the SBI Manager, Mettupalayam, demanding a loan to purchase vegetables.
The vegetable prices have escalated rapidly in recent days, with onions and tomatoes sold above ₹ 100 per kilogram. This has especially distressing the daily wage workers.The CITU members, in an attempt to condemn this, demanded a loan from the State Bank of India (SBI), has causing a stir in the area.
To protest against this, the CITU, led by General Secretary Basha, of the CITU Workers Union, submitted a petition to the State Bank of India, Manager, Mettupalayam, demanding loans for workers to buy vegetables including tomatoes.
Association functionaries Siddique, Senthil, Anandi, Lakshmi, and others were present on the occasion.
