Knitting industry and 117 affiliated organizations have announced a full closure protest today, emphasizing the demands of the industry as the respective sector has repeatedly urged the central government to take action to curb the rise in yarn prices, which could lead to huge losses.
Coimbatore: More than 70 per cent of the knitwear produced in Tamil Nadu is produced from Tirupur. The price of yarn, the main raw material for knitwear production, has risen sharply in the last few months, from 120 to 150 in the last one year alone the cost has touched rupees 350.
As a result, the knitting industry and 117 affiliated organizations have announced a full closure protest today, emphasizing the demands of the industry as the respective sector has repeatedly urged the central government to take action to curb the rise in yarn prices, which could lead to huge losses.
Due to this, almost all knitwear and allied companies are locked up in Tirupur district today. They are going to engage in a hunger strike against the corporation office putting across their demands.
