Continuous rain in Valparai; Sholayar Dam fills to 160 feet water level

As of last morning, the dam had a discharge of 637 cubic feet. With a total capacity of 165 feet, the Sholayar Dam has a water level of 160.4 feet.


Coimbatore: The Sholayar Dam near Valparai is considered to be one of the most important of the PAP dams.

The Sholayar Dam also doubles up as a rainwater storage facility that will be otherwise wasted in to the Arabian Sea. Following the southwest and northeast monsoons, the water level has dropped to 160 feet. As of last morning, the dam has a discharge of 637 cubic feet.

With a total capacity of 165 feet, the Sholayar Dam has a water level of 160.4 feet and 400 cubic feet water was discharged to sea from the dam and solar power station 1 is being operated. The dam has a water reserve of 547 cubic feet.
