In the first phase, 32 families were allotted flats and the houses where they lived were demolished. Tokens are currently being issued to 42 more families. Some of them have no information on where the houses are allotted. 20 families are left without houses. Public demanded that government allocate housing to all before demolition.
Coimbatore: Construction of 3.1 km flyover from Rainbow Colony to Sungam on Coimbatore-Trichy Road is underway. A landing site is being set up at the Ukkadam-Customs Bypass area for vehicles coming from Singanallur to climb the flyover and get off at Ukkadam Road.

A survey of the occupied houses was conducted on behalf of the corporation at the site of this landing site. Later, flats were built and houses were allotted to them in the Ukkadam Pullukkadu area. This was followed by the demolition of 32 houses that had been occupied and built in the first phase.

Work to demolish the remaining houses took place yesterday. Protesting against this, the people of the area besieged the machine and engaged in a protest yesterday.
Public in the area said, "In the first phase, 32 families were allotted flats and the houses where they lived were demolished. Tokens are currently being issued to 42 more families. Some of them have no information as to where their new homes are allotted. Thus it is not possible to vacate the current house they are living in. Another 20 families are left without houses. We demand that government allocates housing to all before demolition."
