The Indian Meteorological Dept. has warned of heavy rains in the state for another day.
Coimbatore: Since the onset of the Northeast monsoon, Tamil Nadu has been experiencing extensive rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department, Chennai has now warned of more heavy rains in the state for another day.
The Director of the Chennai Zonal Meteorological Center, N Puviarasan briefed the media on Wednesday saying that the low pressure in the southern Bay of Bengal (upto 4.5 km altitude) is likely to change to a depression in the next 24 hours. It is likely to move west and northwest towards the coast of Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
Due to this, thundershowers are likely in one or two places in Ramanathapuram and Pudukottai districts on Thursday. Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Delta Districts and Puducherry and a few places in Karaikal are likely to experience moderate to thundershowersand light showers at a couple of places in the inner districts.
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected at one or two places in Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, Cuddalore, Delta districts and Karaikal districts on November 26. Heavy showers are likely at one or two places in Puducherry and moderate rains in many places in other districts.
On November 27, Chennai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Thiruvannamalai, Ranipettai, Tirupati districts and Puducherry areas will receive heavy rains in one or two places, as well as in Salem, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Delta districts and one or two places in Karaikal. Moderate rain is also expected at many places in other districts.
Heavy to very heavy rain in one or two places in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts can be expected on November 28. Heavy showers have been forecast in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chengalpattu, Delta districts, Puducherry and Karaikal while moderate rain is expected in one or two places in other districts.
