Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation administration has instructed to place blue and green buckets for garbage in shopping malls, shops, restaurants, hotels etc. in the areas under Coimbatore Corporation. There are about 5,500 streets in the Coimbatore Corporation areas. Employees at a rate of 250 per household in all the five zones under the Corporation of Coimbatore have been assigned to collect compostable and non-compostable garbage from house to house in small vehicles up to 1,200 persons.
But when the people in the houses dump the garbage in the garbage bins in the streets, they dump everything together as compostable and non-compostable garbage. In addition, garbage from vegetable and fruit stalls, markets, shops, roadside stalls and private companies is dumped without sorting.
