Monsoonal infections triggered in Coimbatore due to heavy rains; 5 treated positive for dengue fever

The monsoon rains in Coimbatore has triggered monsoonal infections in public and 5 persons are under treatment for dengue in the city.


Coimbatore: The monsoonal infections are on the rise in Coimbatore, and five persons are being treated for dengue fever in the city.

With the monsoonal rains intensifying in Coimbatore, the subsequent infections are on the rise. Fever including dengue, malaria, and swine flu is fast spreading and the cases increase day by day in private and government hospitals. Over 20 people arrive at the government hospital every day to be treated for viral fever.

While five people are being treated for dengue fever at Coimbatore GH, doctors and the health department warn of removing stagnant rainwater in any kind of containers, around residential areas that might trigger the growth of dengue mosquitoes.
