Heavy showers disrupt traffic and daily routines for locals in Coimbatore

Office-goers as well as locals returning home in Coimbatore on Monday evening were inconvenienced a great deal due to the heavy showers lashing the city for the past few hours.


Coimbatore: Owing to the heavy downpour that lashed the city, locals especially office-goers were inconvenienced since the incessant rains also disrupted traffic on the main roads.

Public suffered when sewage began overflowing onto 100 ft road in Coimbatore, with motorists left with no choice but to wade through the waters amidst the downpour.

Coimbatore has been receiving continuous rains for the past few days. The Chennai MeteorologicalDepartment's forecast on Monday warned that a further depression had developed in the Bay of Bengal and that over 15 districts includingCoimbatore were likely to experience heavy rains.

Even as the sky over the city darkened in the evening, thunder showers broke out a while ago leaving the public once again in discomfort. People returning home after work were forced to wade through the waterlogging on the roads.

Gandhipuram, 100 ft Road, Kalapatti, Airport, Avinashi Road, Collector's Office, Periyanaickenpalayam, Railway Station, Ukkadam Bus Stand, Singanallur Bus Stand and Sulur areas in the city have been experiencing heavy showers.
