The Ooty police arrested three persons who were involved in circulating counterfeit currencies
The Nilgiris: Three persons were arrested after suspicions arose as a man issued fake currency to buy liquor from a TASMAC outlet.
The TASMAC employees at the shop in Ooty, Lower Bazaar area informed police after a man issued fake currency to buy alcohol from the shop. The currency notes were tested by the VAO Pichaikkani and were confirmed to be counterfeit notes.
The Village Administrative Officer lodged a complaint at the Ooty B1 police station.
An investigation by Inspector Senthil Kumar, SI Rajaram revealed that the fake currencies were circulated with the help of Deendayalan, (32), of Coimbatore, his aides Gopinath, (25), of Pondicherry, and Abdul Rahman, (28), of Ooty Kanthal area.
The cops recovered 25,500 rupees of counterfeit currency was seized. The three were arrested and imprisoned.
