10 sovereigns of gold jewellery, two silver lamps, Rs.27,500 and a diamond ring have reportedly been stolen from the house of a private employee in Kovaipudur.
Coimbatore: Mahalingam (72), son of Ponnusamy of Kovaipudur in Coimbatore has been working for a private company in Selvapuram area for the last three years.
Since his wife had gone to Chennai during the past few days to visit their daughter, Mahalingam had decided to stay on at the store he worked in.
But after work, when Mahalingam returned home in the morning, he found that door of the house had been broken into. He found that 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery, two silver lamps, Rs.27,500 and a diamond ring had been stolen from the wardrobe in the house.
Mahalingam then lodged a complaint at the Kuniamuthur police station. The police rushed to his house in Kovaipudur and took fingerprints at the spot of the burglary, and are investigating the complaint.
