Voter list correction camp that was held this weekend, at all the polling booths in Coimbatore district. In two days, 14,597 people have applied for corrections.
Coimbatore: As many as 14,597 applications have been submitted at the voter list correction camp held in Coimbatore district for the last two days.
The draft voter list was released on November 1, ahead of the local elections in Tamil Nadu. Following this, the Election Commission has directed to hold a special camp to amend the voter list with January 1, 2022 announced as the eligibility date.
It was announced that a special camp would be held on November 13, 14 and 27, 28. But special camps were not held in various districts on November 13 and 14 due to the northeast monsoon. Instead, the Election Commission had directed to hold a voter list revision camp on November 20 and 21. Accordingly, the voter list correction camp was held for two days on Saturday and Sunday at all the polling booths in Coimbatore district.
Of these, 4,514 applied on Saturday. Another 10,083 people have applied for the second day of the special camp held yesterday. In two days, 14,597 people have applied, according to official sources. Similarly, the voter list correction camp will be held on November 27 and 28 at all the polling booths. All those over the age of 18 can add their names to the voter list, according to Election Division officials.
