The Coimbatore city police upon the orders of District SP met the school children here in the city and educated them to stand up and defence against crimes against women and children.
Coimbatore: An awareness campaign highlighting the defence against the crimes children and women are subjected to, was held in Coimbatore on behalf of the city Police department.
Acting on the orders district SP, Selvanagarathinam, an awareness programme was hosted for the government and private school students in Coimbatore.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Periyanayakenpalayam, Rajapandian, Mettupalayam Inspector of Police, Shanmugam, Sub- Inspector Damodaran and women constables spoke to the school students within the Mettupalayam limits on Monday. The cops spoke on the crimes against children and women, child marriage, ill-effects of drug use, ragging, POCSO. The students were made aware of preventing such crimes against children.
The students were educated about aspects like installing CCTV cameras, road safety rules, the importance of wearing helmets, and the intensity of covid-19.
The cops later shared the helpline number of Vidiyal, the initiative of District Police department to help drug-addicted and depressed individuals. Public shall contact them through the number 0422-2300999.
Also, the Coimbatore District Police Control Room 94981-81212 and WhatsApp Number 77081-00100 was shared. The students’ were asked to inform the department about crimes against women and children. The police personnel assured that informants’ information will be confidential.
