Coimbatore: A youth was injured and bikes were pulled along for a distance as a truck lost control on the descent on a flyover in Gandhipuram on Sunday.
Three youths were injured as a truck lost control and collided with three motorcycles in quick succession on two cars near the burial ground, on the Gandhipuram flyover. One of them was crushed and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
A truck was that descended at the 100 ft road overpass lost control and hit a bike at lightning speed and hit the parked cars jarringly. The car was completely destroyed while one person was severely injured when the truck collided with a motorcycle. The public rescued the injured and sent him to a private hospital for treatment.
A 33-year-old man on a motorbike suffered a broken leg and was taken to the government hospital for treatment in an ambulance. Two others suffered minor injuries and the truck driver fled from the location. Traffic Investigation Branch police have registered a case in Coimbatore East and are searching for the driver.
The incident created a stir in the area and the accident disrupted traffic for more than half an hour.
