Food Smuggling Prevention Unit police conducted a search yesterday. They confiscated 4 tons of ration rice smuggled to Kerala in a truck. Isakimuthu, (42), a resident of Srivaikundam in Thoothukudi district, was arrested in connection with the incident. Police are searching for driver Muthukumar who fled.
Coimbatore: 4 tonnes of ration rice smuggled to Kerala near Coimbatore was seized. The owner of the truck was arrested in connection with this.
There is a private godown near Perur Pachapalayam, Gandhi Nagar. Police received a tip-off that ration rice bundles were being brought in from the surrounding areas of Perur and Madampatti in these godowns, stored there and smuggled to Kerala at night by trucks.
