Nilgiris MP A Raja and Tamil Nadu Forest Minister K Ramachandran visited the Anganwadi Center where people affected by the rains in Nilgiris district were housed at the VC Colony in Finger Post area, and provided them with woollen clothes and ration items.
The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris MP A Raja and Tamil Nadu Forest Minister K Ramachandran visited the areas affected by the recent heavy rains in Nilgiris, in areas like Kandhal, VC Colony, Boat House and Yellanalli, on Friday.
They visited the Anganwadi Center where people affected by the rains were housed at the VC Colony in Finger Post area and provided them with woollen clothes and ration items.
MP A Raja later told reporters that 15 houses in the district had been damaged by heavy rains over the past two days and that the retaining wall had collapsed at various places. He said the crop damage was not major but was advised to conduct field inspection. He added that the damage was largely avoided due to various precautionary measures taken by the district administration. Departmental officials, including Keerthi Priyadarshini who is District Collector In-charge were present during the inspection.
