Coimbatore Government Arts College Professor Raghunathan has been arrested and booked under Sec 354, 365, 506 (2) 4 by Race Course Police.
Coimbatore: The Race Course Police on Friday arrested a professor of Govt Arts College in Coimbatore for sending inappropriate text messages to the students.
Earlier, protests erupted by students and student associations complaining of inappropriate messages by the professor to the students.
Further, demanding legal action, over 100 students boycotted classes today and staged a sit-in-protest in front of the college.
The students stressed that departmental action against the professor alone was not enough and that legal action should also be taken.
Following complaint by a student at Race Course Police Station, the Police summoned Professor Ragunathan for investigation and booked him under Sec 354, 365, 506 (2) 4 and later arrested him.
