From Coimbatore Textile Chamber of Commerce Government Girls' High School, Raja street and St. High School, Coimbatore 50 students from each school were selected for HIV / AIDS, blood donation and TB donation to create awareness among the younger community about AIDS, TB and blood donation.
Coimbatore: As part of celebrating India's 75th year of Independence and creating a new India, the National AIDS Control Organization and the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Association selected 100 students for painting competitions on creating awareness on HIV / AIDS, blood donation and TB donation, and to also instil awareness among the younger community about the same.
This was done with the approval of the District Collector of Coimbatore in light of the fact that Coimbatore district has been found to be high-risk for the spread of AIDS.
From the Coimbatore Textile Chamber of Commerce Government Girls' High School in the city's Raja Street and St. Michael's High School in Coimbatore, 50 students each were selected and the competitions were held with 19 security procedures in place. The prize money for each competition is Rs.3000 for first prize, Rs.2000 for second prize and Rs.1000 for third prize.
The HIV / AIDS Painting Competition was held on November 17, the Blood Donation Awareness Painting Competition was held on November 18 and the Tuberculosis Awareness Painting Competition was held on November 19. At the district level, the District Collector, G S Sameeran selected members of the committee to monitor the events related to the above competitions and conducted them under their supervision. The school principals and teachers thanked the Centurion Association coordinators for their cooperation.
