Samooga Needhi Katchi cadres petition District Collector to take action against owner of sealed brick kiln in Thadagam

The owner has allegedly been removing the brick and kiln machinery overnight from some of the sealed brick kilns in the area and sold them to another district.

Coimbatore: The Samooga Needhi Katchi cadres filed a petition with the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran alleging that bricks and machinery from sealed brick kilns were being removed in violation of a court order.

The High Court had closed and sealed over 100 brick kilns operating in the Thadagam Mangarai area in Coimbatore district, following a case of looting the mineral resources.

The owner has allegedly been removing the brick and kiln machinery overnight from some of the sealed brick kilns in the area and sold them to another district. The Samooga Needhi Katchi has petitioned the Coimbatore District Collector to take immediate action.

Commenting on this, Ganesh, a cadre said, "Following the High Court order to seal off unauthorized brick factories in the Thadagam area, the Tahsildar of Coimbatore North sealed 177 brick factories and machinery, including green bricks, generators and heavy vehicles. An order has been issued to take criminal action against those owners, by the North Tahsildar and an investigation has been carried out by the Minerals Department and a report has been filed. Bricks were being smuggled day and night from brick factories in the Thadagam area and sold to outside markets.

More than 27 brick factories were removing machinery and state-of-the-art robots and selling them to Palani. The District Collector should take immediate action against such violators. The North Tahsildar, the Police and the Minerals Department must take action against those involved in such illegal activities," he added.
